Over the past few weeks I've been based in San Remo and my job has been mainly that of videographer and editer. I've shot over 14 hours of summer camp footage and managed to wade through 12 of it so far, complining a huge library of clips that I am HOPING I can assemble into a few different videos for the ACLE website. In the midst of this I've also been running a youth hostel in Giuseppe's flat, the place where I'm living. It's a nice place with a view of the sea and random people are constantly showing up and leaving, so I wash a lot of sheets.
A couple day ago I drove Max to the port in Genova after he missed his train. He was trying to get home to Sardinia, unfortunately, because his mother passed away (she'd been suffering for some time). His car is made of plastic and it takes him about a day to get to Genova where is takes me about an hour and a half. By the time we actually made it to his ferry there were 2 minutes to spare and the dockhands started slapping stickers on the car and trying to get me to drive onto the boat.
Went to the beach yesterday and the normally tranquil sea was really rough, threatening to smash me on the random rocks that lurk beneath the surface.
Today I spent the morning as a studio musician, laying down some guitar tracks to a Peter Gabriel song so a friend could have a CD to sing along with for a wedding next week.
My friend, Brad, has been at the flat for the past week. He loves Italian cuisine and reads the books like someone else reads a magazine or novel. Every night is a different dish; last night, penne ala Siciliana.
Alright, back to video!
Justin
